1. Charter School Sponsor Institute (CSI) of Ohio,

www.schoolsponsors.org, 3989 Jackpot Road, Suite B, Grove City, OH 43123;

email - info@schoolsponsors.org; 614-539-4732. Director: John Rothwell.

The mission of CSI is to recruit, equip, and train sponsors for Ohio’s charter schools. A charter school sponsor has a unique role in public education. A charter is a document that symbolizes that a new school created by a school district or other chartering agency will be recognized as a public school and will comply with all laws and regulations defined the a state's charter school law. A sponsor is the legal entity that has the authority to create a new public school by issuing a charter. The charter is defined through a contract between the sponsoring entity and the governing board of the chartered public school.

The CSI web site has information, examples and templates for the functions required of chartering authorizers: setting up an approval process, developing performance plans for chartered schools, monitoring, contract review and renewal, etc.
