Judith Denton Jones, PhD.

 


Judith is a sociologist, taught at American and George Washington Universities, and served as an education planner and facilities planner for the DC Public School System.  Her 1986 book documented an early public school choice program, “Six School Complex: A Successful Innovation in Washington, D.C.’s Public Schools.” She and her husband grow Christmas trees and blueberries in Hope.

Bob became interested in innovative public schools through his work at the Metropolitan Regional and Technical Center (The Met) in Providence, RI.  His current work focuses on affordable housing in Maine. Portland

Etta Kralovec Etta is a clinical faculty member at Pepperdine University and an educational consultant to the U.S. Department of Labor.  She is the author of “Schools That Do Too Much” and co-author of “The End of Homework.”
Cheryl Saliwanchik Brown Cheryl has taught high school English in both traditional and alternative public schools in Maine. She is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Education at the University of Maine, Orono, with a special focus on students at risk. Orland

Judy Powers After many years as a Montessori teacher and administrator, Judy was elected to the Maine House (Democrat, Rockport/Camden). In 1996, she introduced legislation that resulted in a study committee to consider Options in Education.  In 1998, she introduced the bill to authorize public charter schools in Maine. Judy was Director of Mid-Coast Children's Services, a preschool and social service agency supporting young children with special needs and their families until 2005.
