Roger has served Maine’s public schools
as a teacher, administrator, and technology coordinator. He has Masters
Degrees from the Univ. of Maine in Science Education and Educational
Leadership. Currently he is Principal of the Blue Hill Harbor
School, an approved private school which is designed to become a public
charter school. |

Judith Denton Jones, PhD

Hope |
Judith is a sociologist, taught at American and George Washington
Universities, and served as an education planner and facilities planner
for the DC Public School System. Her 1986 book documented an early
public school choice program, “Six School Complex: A Successful
Innovation in Washington, D.C.’s Public Schools.” She and her husband
grow Christmas trees and blueberries in Hope. |

Rick is an
Assistant Professor of Special Education at the University of Maine at Farmington.
Previously Rick was Assistant Professor of Special Ed. at Mansfield
University of Pennsylvania, director of special education in the public
schools, a Pennsylvania Department of Education special education policy
analyst, a state-wide consultant/trainer, and a special education
teacher in various settings. Rick earned a Doctorate in Educational
Administration at Penn State and the title of his dissertation was “The
Politics of Special Education Policy in Charter School Legislation:
Lessons from Pennsylvania.” |

| Emanuel Pariser,
Waterville |
Emanuel was co-founder and co-director of The
Community School in Camden. He has over 30 years experience in developing
successful alternative programs for hard-to-reach youth. He was the
former president of the Alternative Education Association of Maine, and
was a founding member of the Education Commissioner's Committee on Truant,
Dropout and Alternative Education. Currently he is finishing his
doctorate degree at the University of Maine. |

Cheryl Robertson,

Orono |
Cheryl has taught high school English in both
traditional and alternative public schools in Maine. She recently earned
her
Ph.D. in Education at the University of Maine, Orono, with a
special focus on students at risk. |
| Marylyn Wentworth,
Kennebunk |
Founder and director of The New School,
an alternative high school in Kennebunk, Marylyn has a long history of
supporting vulnerable children and providing alternative models of
education. |

Richard is a long-time supporter of
innovative education programs through Camp Kieve programs such as Kieve
Affective Education. |
| Judy Powers |
After many years as a Montessori teacher
and administrator, Judy was elected to the Maine House (Democrat,
Rockport/Camden). In 1996, she introduced legislation that resulted in a
study committee to consider Options in Education. In 1998, she
introduced the bill to authorize public charter schools in Maine. Judy
was Director of Mid-Coast Children's Services, a preschool and social
service agency supporting young children with special needs and their
families until 2005. |
