We can certainly use your help to educate people about the benefits of public charter schools! Please consider: Contacting your legislators. (You can easily get started with the link above.) Attending MACS meetings - Usually held monthly at the Peace and Justice Center in Augusta. We email members as to the agenda and the exact time and place prior to each meeting. We also email minutes of the meetings and include highlights in our monthly newsletters. Attending MACS workshops - we hold occasional workshops on matters related to public charter schools. For example, in October 2005 we brought five national experts to a work shop held in cooperation with the Department of Education. We will notify members of upcoming workshops. Lending your time and skill - for database entry, grant writing, mailings, meeting with people in your area (legislators, educators, business people, the media, etc.). Please let us know if you are in a position to donate your time. Studying charter schools - the more you know about public charter schools across the United States, the better you will be in a position to inform others. Our links to National Charter Schools is a great place to start. Arranging presentations - we need people to arrange for presentations on Public Charter Schools with local community groups. MACS will gladly provide speakers, handouts, PowerPoint slideshows, etc. |
