Contact Your Legislators Your local State Representative and State Senator need to hear your thinking about public charter schools. They will have already heard from lobbyists in opposition, working for the MTA, MPA, MSA, and MSBA. Please call, email, or write your local reps. If you don't know who they are, please go to the Maine Legislature Website via this link to find out. You could call your town clerk to be sure which district you are in, or email MACS with your 9 digit zip code and we'll help you find out. General tips when communicating with legislators: 1. Be brief, polite and respectful. 2. Share your story - one or two reasons you are interested in having public charter school options in Maine. 3. Ask the legislator if they have any questions or concerns about charter schools, offer to help them get the facts. 4. Don't feel you have to be an expert on charter schools. MACS will help you! 5. Give your name, address and telephone so the legislator can contact you with any further questions or concerns. 6. Thank them very much for their huge efforts on behalf of education in Maine! |
